The Apprentice Advisory Circle

Learning does’t happen in a vacuum

Who teaches the Apprentice?

Leaning and teaching can’t happen in solititude.

The Doula Apprentice Program is proud to have the support of leaders in green burial & family-led death-caring movement, funeral professionals, celebrants, ceremonialists, palliative care doctors, patient/healthcare advocates, and community education specialists. Meet some of the most innovative people & organizations in modern North American Death-caring.

Ngaio Davis is one of the most important voices in family-led death-caring movement in Canada today. As a licensed funeral director/embalmer and owner of KORU Cremation | Burial | Ceremony, she has been tenderly guiding people through post-death decisions for over 2 decades.

Megan Sheldon is the co-founder of Be Ceremonial, the world’s first guided ritual and ceremony app. Megan is a cultural mythologist, humanist celebrant, and end-of-life doula living and working in North Vancouver, BC. She has created hundreds of ceremonies for people around the world, focusing on what she calls the ‘seemingly invisible moments of change’, such as pregnancy loss, organ transplantation, menopause, living funerals, and death anniversaries.

Connie Jorsvik founded Patient Pathways in 2011 after 25 years as a surgical, maternal and cardiac RN. Connie has a solid foundation serving within the BC healthcare system, and as a Patient Advocate, has supported hundreds of patients in their journeys through serious and complex illness.

Death’s Apprentice Education & Planning is a proud member of the National End of Life Doula Alliance. This community-focused organization provides a clear and ethical explanation or what accreditation means within the context of an unregulated profession. As an educator first and foremost, I am proud to be considered “NEDA Proficient”, and encourage other doula apprentices to consider this designation.

Christina Andreola is the founder of New Narrative Events, a bespoke celebration of life event planning company.  Since 2017, she has supported more than 500 families across North America in planning custom-tailored memorials that combine personalization, creativity, and technology.
